Andrija Maksimović, the 17-year-old midfielder of Crvena Zvezda, is emerging as a top talent, making a standout performance in the Belgrade derby.
Crvena Zvezda holds great hopes for the young midfielder, who has rapidly ascended through the ranks to earn a spot in the first team at such a young age. Andrija Maksimović is regarded as one of Serbia’s brightest talents, with his recent progress highlighted by head coach Vladan Milojević's decision to start him in the derby against Partizan.
Maksimović delivered an impressive performance, providing an assist for Silas Mvumpa's goal. The Serbian media praised his display, and Milojević agrees with the positive assessment.
"Little Messi is a talented player. He didn’t get the opportunity because he’s 17; in fact, I wasn’t even aware of his age. He earned the chance because of his hard work, quality, and everything he showed at Grafičar (Crvena Zvezda's reserve team)," said Milojević.
"This is a reward for him, but also a message to other players about what it’s like to play for a big club."
Maksimović has made two appearances for the senior team this season. He has also played for Crvena Zvezda’s youth side in the UEFA Youth League, as well as three matches in the Serbian second division for Grafičar.
