Just three months after joining Salzburg, 18-year-old Bosnian winger Kerim Alajbegović has earned a contract extension until 2029 following an impressive start to life in Austria.
Red Bull Salzburg have struck gold with the summer signing of Kerim Alajbegović. The talented 18-year-old Bosnian winger has made such a strong impact that the club has rewarded him with a new contract, only three months after his arrival.
Alajbegović joined Salzburg in the summer from Bayer Leverkusen for around €2 million. Despite showing great promise in German youth football, he never established himself in Leverkusen’s first team. Salzburg spotted the opportunity — and their investment is already paying off.
Since arriving in Austria, Alajbegović has scored four goals in 15 appearances across all competitions, quickly becoming one of the most exciting young players at the club. His market value has risen rapidly, prompting Salzburg to extend his deal from 2028 to 2029, with improved terms reflecting his growing status.
Born in Cologne and raised in the German football system, Alajbegović has already made his mark internationally, earning two caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina and scoring one goal for the national team.
Salzburg’s quick decision to secure his future underlines their reputation for developing top young talent — and Alajbegović could soon be the next breakout star from their production line.
