AC Milan has ruled out signing João Félix permanently, as the Portuguese forward has failed to impress during his loan spell. He is set to return to Chelsea in July.

AC Milan has made a definitive decision regarding João Félix's future. The Portuguese forward, on loan from Chelsea since January 2025, will not be signed permanently, meaning he will return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. This news, first reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, reflects the club’s disappointment with his performances.

Félix arrived at Milan with high expectations, especially after making an instant impact by scoring just 13 minutes into his debut against Roma in the Coppa Italia. However, his form quickly faded. By March 2025, he had managed just one goal and one assist in nine appearances, failing to justify the €40 million Chelsea is reportedly demanding for a permanent move.

His inconsistency and struggles to fit into Sérgio Conceição’s system have played a major role in Milan’s decision. Despite paying €5 million for the loan and covering most of his wages, the club sees other priorities in the summer transfer market, particularly the need for a more clinical striker.

Although Félix has shown flashes of his talent, his time at San Siro looks set to be short-lived, as Milan shifts its focus toward securing a more suitable attacking option for next season.
