AC Milan’s bold decision: 16-year-old Francesco Camarda to start in Serie A match against Cagliari. Coach Paulo Fonseca trusts the young striker over Tammy Abraham.
Today, AC Milan is set to make history by fielding a 16-year-old striker, Francesco Camarda, in their starting lineup for the Serie A game against Cagliari. Unless there’s a last-minute change, head coach Paulo Fonseca plans to give the young forward a chance to prove himself on the big stage.
Camarda currently plays for Milan Futuro, the club’s youth team, where he shares the field with Damir Zukić, a promising young Slovenian defender. Today, however, Camarda is expected to start as part of AC Milan's first team attack.
Fonseca has made it clear that he believes the teenager could be more effective in attack than the experienced Tammy Abraham. “Morata plays a unique role, creating space for others. Right now, Camarda is better prepared for this role than Tammy Abraham. He trains with us every day, and we trust him,” Fonseca explained.
Young Camarda has already made four appearances with the AC Milan senior squad, and today’s match will offer him a chance to make a significant impact.
