Achraf Hakimi agrees to extend his PSG contract until 2029, ending transfer speculation and committing his future to the Parc des Princes, reports L'Équipe.
After weeks of rumors linking Achraf Hakimi to a possible return to Inter Milan or even a move to Barcelona, French outlet L'Équipe reports that the Moroccan international has decided to commit his future to Paris Saint-Germain.
Hakimi, whose current contract with PSG runs until 2026, is set to sign an extension that will keep him at the Parc des Princes until 2029. The decision puts an end to persistent speculation about his next move.
PSG coach Luis Enrique recently praised the 25-year-old, further hinting that the club was eager to secure his services for the long term. "On a professional level, he’s still at the very high level I found when I arrived here. I think he fits perfectly with our system," Enrique said, fueling optimism about Hakimi’s future in Paris.
While media reports swirled about potential transfers, including a return to Inter, Hakimi’s decision to stay signals his commitment to PSG’s project. The official announcement of the new deal is expected in the coming days.
Hakimi joined PSG in 2021 after successful stints at Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and Real Madrid, where he rose through the youth academy but never received a full chance in the first team. With PSG, Hakimi has become one of the best right-backs in the world, a player valued at €60 million, according to Transfermarkt.
The 25-year-old is also a pivotal figure for the Moroccan national team, where he serves as captain. With 82 caps and 10 goals, Hakimi played a key role in Morocco’s historic run to the semifinals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, cementing his status as one of the best defenders in the game.
For PSG, securing Hakimi’s services for the foreseeable future eliminates a major concern heading into future transfer windows and solidifies their defense with one of the top right-backs in world football.
