Cristiano Ronaldo made a dazzling return to action for Al Nassr in the first match of the new season, playing in the Saudi Arabian club's Super Cup semifinal.
The Portuguese star shone brightly, scoring a goal and providing an assist in a 2-0 victory over Al Taawoun. As captain of Al Nassr, Ronaldo picked up right where he left off last season, where he was the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League.
Earlier this year, Ronaldo represented Portugal in the European Championship in Germany, where they faced Slovenia in the quarterfinals, advancing after a penalty shootout.
Last season, Al Nassr finished second in the domestic league, with the title going to Al Hilal, who dominated without much competition. This season, Ronaldo and his star-studded teammates aim to secure the club's 10th league title (last won in the 2018/19 season).
It’s worth noting that Al Nassr has been relatively quiet in the transfer market this year, with their only significant signing being Brazilian goalkeeper Bento for 20 million euros.
