Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Heidenheim 1-0 with Arnaud Kalimuendo scoring the winner, giving coach Albert Riera his third victory since taking charge.
Albert Riera celebrated another important victory in the Bundesliga after Eintracht Frankfurt secured a narrow 1-0 win against Heidenheim at Deutsche Bank Park.
The decisive moment arrived early in the second half when Arnaud Kalimuendo found the net in the 53rd minute. The French striker reacted quickly after a set-piece situation and fired a powerful shot from inside the penalty area that proved enough to secure all three points.
The result represents another positive step for Riera, who took over the German side earlier this season after leaving Celje.
It was the sixth match for the Spanish coach on the Frankfurt bench. His record so far includes three victories, two draws, and one defeat.
Despite the win, Eintracht Frankfurt remain in seventh place after 26 rounds of the Bundesliga campaign.
The club currently sits seven points behind Bayer Leverkusen, who occupy sixth position, the place that grants qualification for the UEFA Conference League.
With only eight rounds remaining in the season and no direct meeting with Leverkusen left, Frankfurt will need a strong run of results to close the gap.
The upcoming schedule may offer opportunities to collect more points.
Next weekend Eintracht travel to face Mainz, who currently sit in 14th place, before returning home to play Cologne, another club involved in the battle to avoid relegation.
Those matches could prove crucial for Riera and his team as they try to maintain momentum and keep their hopes of European qualification alive.
