Albert Riera’s Eintracht Frankfurt drew 0-0 with St Pauli in the Bundesliga. The Spanish coach expected more against a team battling relegation.
Eintracht Frankfurt dropped important points in the Bundesliga after a 0-0 draw against relegation threatened St Pauli.
The team led by Albert Riera struggled to create clear chances as the home side defended effectively and neutralized most attacking attempts.
St Pauli entered the match fighting for survival in the league, yet recent performances show improved form. The point moved them level with Cologne and Mainz, who occupy the relatively safe 14th and 15th positions in the standings.
For Eintracht Frankfurt, the result represents a missed opportunity. The club currently sits in seventh place and hopes to gain ground after Bayer Leverkusen, placed sixth, also slipped during this round.
The next challenge for Riera and his squad will come in round 26 when they face Heidenheim, a team widely considered among the main candidates for relegation to the 2. Bundesliga.
The Spanish coach has now overseen five Bundesliga matches since taking charge. His record includes victories over Freiburg and Borussia Monchengladbach, draws against Union Berlin and St Pauli, and one defeat against Bayern Munich in a 3-2 thriller.
Riera arrived in Germany after a successful spell with Celje, where he left the Slovenian club in a strong position in both the Prva Liga and the UEFA Conference League.
Since his departure, Celje have struggled to maintain the same rhythm and results.
