Celje coach Albert Riera is spending his summer break golfing with Pep Guardiola and Pepe Reina, joking that some of them have more trophies than others.
Albert Riera, head coach of NK Celje, is enjoying his offseason in the company of close friends and fellow Spaniards Pep Guardiola and Pepe Reina—and he's not missing a chance to poke some light-hearted fun at one of football's greatest managers.
A keen golfer off the pitch, Riera often joins Manchester City boss Guardiola and recently retired goalkeeper Reina for golf outings, blending sport with good humour and nostalgia. The trio share a long-standing friendship, forged during their playing days and sustained by their shared love for football—and golf.
This week, Riera posted a set of photos from their latest outing on Instagram, offering a glimpse into their summer getaway. While thanking Guardiola and his team for the good company, Riera couldn’t resist making a cheeky comment.
"Another year, surrounded by incredible vibes and football friends who’ve now become golf addicts," he wrote. "Thanks to Pep Guardiola and his entire team for letting us enjoy these days full of laughter, stories, and memories. We’re getting older, but these are the moments that stay with us. Still charging the batteries…"
He then ended with a playful jab at Guardiola, who finished the season without a trophy at Manchester City: "By the way, the classic summer photo with 'Pepi' has changed a bit—now it’s officially a photo of three coaches, and some of us have more titles than others!"
