Aleksandar Mitrović, Serbia's leading scorer, is optimistic about the national team's chances of securing a win against Slovenia in their key Euro 2024 match at the Munich stadium tomorrow at 3 PM.
Despite not scoring in the first match against England, Mitrović is determined to find the back of the net this time.
The top scorer of the Serbian national team spoke to the press:
"Slovenia's greatest strength is their team play, but there's also Šeško, who is dangerous for the goal at any moment. There are no surprises from either side. There won't be any surprises," said Mitrović.
Will you give the Slovenians more reason to fear you?
"I hope so, it would be nice. We've played two matches against them, and the circumstances are different now. Both we and they will approach the match differently. It would be great to score a goal and win. Even if I don't score and we win, it would still be beautiful."
How can Serbia capitalize on the opportunities that arise?
"Every team has strengths and weaknesses. There's not much to hide; in today's football, everyone knows who plays and what they play. We'll try to exploit all their weaknesses."
You were six years old when Slovenia and FR Yugoslavia played at Euro 2000 in Belgium and the Netherlands.
"Those are my first memories of the national team. I remember that phenomenal match, there was everything—goals, comebacks, everything. I remember Savi's goals in that championship. I hope we play well tomorrow and inspire some kids and create new memories."
Where would you prefer to be tomorrow, closer to or farther from the penalty area?
"It depends on the tactics. I'll do what my teammates ask of me—participate in defense, play without the ball, and contribute to the game. I hope to be closer to the penalty area and the goal, but the game is a living thing, and things change quickly. We have to adapt."
Who will take the penalty if awarded?
"We discuss among ourselves who feels confident. When Tadić is on the field, he's the first taker; after that, it's me. Just let there be a penalty, and we'll easily agree."
