Aleksandar Mitrović was rushed to Al-Habib Hospital in Riyadh on Sunday after experiencing a rapid heartbeat (tachycardia) due to physical stress.
The Serbian forward, who had recently returned from injury, has now been advised to take a complete rest following the health scare.
Mitrović’s sudden hospitalization
Reports from Saudi Arabia confirmed that Mitrović suffered from an abnormally fast heart rate, which led to his urgent hospitalization. Fortunately, medical evaluations ruled out any immediate danger, but doctors have insisted that he must avoid any physical exertion.
Mitrović’s return from injury
The 29-year-old had only recently made his comeback after a two-month absence due to a hamstring injury. He marked his return in style, scoring in Al Hilal’s 2-0 win over Al Fayha on Friday. However, just days later, he was forced to undergo medical checks after the alarming heart-related incident.
Mitrović set to miss AFC Champions League clash
As a result of his condition, Mitrović is expected to miss Al Hilal’s upcoming match against Pakhtakor on Tuesday evening. The Saudi Pro League leaders will host the Uzbek side in the second leg of the AFC Champions League round of 16 at the Kingdom Arena.
While the full extent of Mitrović’s recovery timeline remains uncertain, Al Hilal will be hoping for a swift return of their star striker as they continue their push for silverware in both domestic and continental competitions.
