Massimiliano Allegri praised Luka Modrić’s brilliance but criticised Rafael Leao for missing a decisive chance as Milan and Juventus played out a 0-0 draw in Turin.
The highly anticipated Serie A derby between Juventus and Milan ended in a goalless draw, with both sides failing to capitalise on their key opportunities. The Round 6 clash in Turin lacked goals but offered moments of high tension and tactical discipline.
After the match, Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri reflected on the result, praising Luka Modrić for his sublime passing while expressing frustration with Rafael Leao for failing to convert a crucial chance.
“I didn’t see Pulisic shoot from the penalty spot – it happens, sometimes you miss. We had our chances but we should have been more aggressive in the decisive moments. The positive is that we didn’t concede a goal. Modric’s ball play was wonderful, a real pleasure to watch. But Leao has to score when Modric gives him that kind of ball – he has to give more,” Allegri said.
The coach also admitted that returning to the stadium where he once managed Juventus carried emotional weight:
“Seeing the people with whom I shared tears and laughter was nice. Thank you for the warm welcome. Now I’m just focused on Milan. A draw today is a point won, but we could have won.”
The result leaves both sides locked in a competitive early-season race at the top of the Serie A table, with Allegri urging more clinical finishing from his attacking stars in future decisive matches.
