Alvaro Morata will spend the season with Leganes in La Liga 2, returning to the Madrid area where his long football journey began.

Leganes in La Liga 2.
Como bought out Morata's contract this year due to previous commitments, but it soon became clear that coach Cesc Fabregas wanted to build his attack around younger players. That left the former Spain international searching for another solution before the start of the season.
Few expected that solution to come in the Spanish second division. Morata has decided to join Leganés, located on the outskirts of Madrid, around 30 kilometres from the centre of the Spanish capital.
A return to where it all started
The move has special significance for Morata. He spent his youth career with several Madrid clubs, including Getafe, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, before embarking on a career that took him across some of Europe's biggest teams.
Morata has represented Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Galatasaray and Como, winning major trophies and playing at the highest level in Spain, England, Italy and Turkey.
But Leganés also has a place in his earliest football memories. Morata revealed that one of the first matches he ever attended was a game involving his new club.
"One of the first matches I watched live as a child was Leganes against Atletico Madrid. I was in the stands with my father. I was also the ball boy!" Morata recalled.
After years spent playing for some of Europe's biggest clubs, Morata is now returning to the Madrid area for a very different challenge – helping Leganés in Spain's second division.
