Bosnia international Amar Dedić will return to Red Bull Salzburg after failing to meet the playing time clause that would have triggered Marseille’s obligation to buy.
Amar Dedić’s stint at Marseille has ended in disappointment, with the Bosnian international set to return to Red Bull Salzburg this summer after failing to secure a permanent transfer.
According to L'Équipe, the French club will not activate the mandatory purchase clause included in his loan agreement, as Dedić did not meet the required playing time threshold. The 22-year-old right-back had joined Marseille on loan from Salzburg in January for €1.5 million, with a clause stipulating that if he played 50% of available minutes, the club would be obliged to buy him outright this summer.
However, Dedić only made nine appearances and fell short of the required quota. He hasn’t featured at all in Marseille’s last three matches, signaling the club’s lack of interest in retaining him.
Marseille have reportedly decided not to pursue further negotiations with Salzburg, meaning Dedić will return to Austria. Salzburg are expected to reintegrate him into their squad, given his solid performances prior to the loan spell.
The news comes as a blow to Dedić, who had hoped to establish himself in Ligue 1 and take the next step in his career after impressing in the Austrian Bundesliga and for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
