Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti praised Cristiano Ronaldo’s professionalism and longevity, saying the 39-year-old could still play for any national team, including Brazil.

Carlo Ancelotti has described Cristiano Ronaldo as a true "football legend" who could still play for any team in the world, following Portugal’s latest triumph in the UEFA Nations League.

Ronaldo, now 40, scored his 138th international goal during the 2024/25 Nations League campaign, helping Portugal lift the trophy for a second time. His longevity continues to defy expectations.

The forward has also claimed back-to-back Golden Boots in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr and is chasing his dream of reaching 1,000 career goals. A new contract in Saudi Arabia is reportedly close.

Ancelotti, who worked with Ronaldo during a trophy-laden spell at Real Madrid, expressed admiration for his former player’s enduring professionalism and fitness.

"I am very happy with what he has achieved. He is a football legend and continues to be a legend. His age shows that his seriousness and professionalism are at the highest level," said Ancelotti.

Now managing the Brazil national team, Ancelotti responded to questions about Ronaldo’s place in the Portugal squad by stating: "He could play for any team and any national team in the world."

Ronaldo is expected to feature at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, which would mark a historic sixth appearance at FIFA’s showpiece event.
