Carlo Ancelotti is set to become the highest-paid football coach in the world after agreeing to take charge of the Brazilian national team, earning an estimated €9 million over the course of his contract.
Once dominated by nations like Saudi Arabia, China, and Russia in terms of coaching salaries, international football now sees a shift, with five-time world champions Brazil offering the most lucrative job on the planet.
Though Ancelotti will earn less than he did at Real Madrid, the move still represents a significant financial commitment by the Brazilian Football Confederation. His contract runs through to the 2026 World Cup, to be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
While other Italian managers like Roberto Mancini (Saudi Arabia), Fabio Capello (Russia and England), Marcello Lippi, and Fabio Cannavaro (China) have commanded astronomical salaries, Ancelotti’s deal is still seen as remarkable—especially for a national team post.
Ancelotti will officially begin his role on May 26, as Brazil looks to rebuild ahead of their next World Cup campaign with one of the game’s most decorated tacticians at the helm.
