Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana receives FIFPRO Humanitarian Award for his foundation’s efforts in providing medical care to vulnerable groups in Cameroon and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Andre Onana, goalkeeper for Manchester United, has been awarded this year’s FIFPRO Humanitarian Award for his contributions to improving the lives of vulnerable groups through his foundation. The Andre Onana Foundation has facilitated medical care, particularly in Cameroon, his home country, and across other Sub-Saharan African nations.
In the past three years, the foundation’s efforts have resulted in over 1,200 surgeries, primarily for children, thanks to partnerships with medical professionals.
"On my journey to Manchester, I passed through Barcelona, Amsterdam, and Milan, meeting people along the way who helped me rise. I’ve never forgotten the support I received, which is why I feel a responsibility to give back," said the 28-year-old Onana in his acceptance speech.
In addition to the award, FIFPRO has donated $10,000 to the Andre Onana Foundation to support its ongoing initiatives.
