Andres Vombergar scored again for San Lorenzo and now sits second on the scorers' list in Argentina’s Apertura, just one goal behind Racing’s Adrian Martinez.

Andres Vombergar is living up to the nickname of his club, San Lorenzo’s “El Ciclón”, as he continues to storm through Argentina’s top flight.

The Slovenian striker struck again on Sunday, scoring the only goal in San Lorenzo’s 1-0 win over Atletico Tucumán at home. Vombergar headed in a pinpoint cross from Ezequiel Cerutti, sealing all three points in front of the club’s faithful fans.

It was Vombergar’s seventh goal in 14 Apertura matches, putting him second in the league’s top scorer standings, trailing only Adrian “Maravilla” Martinez of Racing, who has eight goals to his name.

Vombergar’s impact has not gone unnoticed in Argentina. The 29-year-old has become a vital attacking force for San Lorenzo and is now regarded by rivals and pundits alike as one of the league’s most consistent and dangerous strikers.

The goal marked yet another step in his impressive rise in South America — a continent where few Slovenian players have ever made such an impression.
