Legendary Argentine midfielder Angel Di Maria has singled out a coach with whom working together was a nightmare.
In his illustrious career, playing for clubs like Benfica, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Juventus, and PSG, legendary Argentine international Angel Di Maria worked with many great coaching names. However, in an interview with ESPN, he revealed that one coach stood out negatively.
His revelation isn't much of a surprise, as Di Maria's episode at Manchester United ended after just one season.
"The worst coach in my career, by far, was Van Gaal. If you ever had any doubts about it, I’m saying it publicly now," said the 36-year-old Benfica star.
Van Gaal, on the other hand, continuously insisted that Di Maria was to blame for all the problems, even though Di Maria had arrived at Manchester United as one of the best midfielders in European football.
"He thinks it’s my fault. I tried him in all offensive positions. You can check for yourself. He never convinced me with his performances. He couldn’t handle the constant pressure on the ball, which is typical in the Premier League. That was his main problem," Van Gaal said.
