Maribor's coach Ante Šimundža praised 17-year-old Karol Borys for his impressive performance in Maribor's recent victory over Mura, highlighting his strong first half and valuable contribution to the team.
Ante Šimundža, the coach of Maribor, shared his thoughts following the team's recent victory over Mura in front of nearly 5,000 fans. In a move that surprised many, Šimundža started 17-year-old Polish talent Karol Borys from the first minute. Borys made the most of his opportunity, marking his debut in the starting eleven with an assist and earning praise from his coach.
"He played an excellent first half," Šimundža said, acknowledging Borys's strong performance. "In the second half, it was evident that he was physically not at the same level. Due to his youth, it's understandable that certain aspects need development—he was tired and began to lose crucial positions."
"However, these 90 minutes will benefit him greatly moving forward, and he has certainly made us consider him for the future."
Šimundža also praised Arnel Jakupović, who scored twice in the match, bringing his total to six goals for the season. "We know the quality of his left foot—many have experienced it already. He played in a different position this time, and despite not being in his usual spot, he made the most of it and secured three points for us. What's important for me is that he can deliver even when out of position, which will only increase his capabilities as he continues to adapt."
