An underage Rayo Vallecano fan received a fine, a stadium ban, and community service for racially insulting Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior in February.
A resolution has been reached regarding the February incident when Vinicius Junior was subjected to racist abuse during Real Madrid’s match against Rayo Vallecano. Among the offenders was an underage fan, who has since apologized to the Brazilian star but will still face consequences for his actions.
The fan has been ordered to pay a fine, serve 40 hours of community service, and will be banned from attending football matches for a year. Despite his apology, authorities deemed the punishment necessary to set a precedent against discriminatory behavior.
Real Madrid confirmed the sanctions on their official channels, stating that the fan had sent a personal letter of apology to Vinicius Junior. The February match between Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano ended in a 1-1 draw.
The club also highlighted that since June last year, four individuals have been penalized for racially insulting players, reaffirming their commitment to combat racism in football.
