Antonio Conte says Napoli's title chase keeps Serie A alive—and insists the media owes him a thank you for it.
Napoli defeated Empoli 3-0 on Monday night, narrowing the gap behind league leaders Inter to just three points and reigniting the Serie A title race.
Antonio Conte didn’t hold back after the match, pointing out that Napoli’s strong finish to the season has been a lifeline for Italian football—especially the media.
"The media should thank us because the fight for the Serie A title is still alive. Otherwise, we would talk about the season being over, there would be less talk about football on TV, we would sell fewer newspapers and the like," said Conte with a grin.
With five games left to play, Napoli are very much in contention for the Scudetto. Their upcoming fixtures include Monza (away), followed by Torino, Lecce, Genoa, and Parma.
Conte’s men are unbeaten in their last six matches and are hoping to take advantage of any slip-ups from Inter in the final stretch.
