Manchester United loanee Antony is thriving at Real Betis, and he’s not hiding his preference for life in Spain over Manchester.
Antony’s loan spell at Real Betis has been far better than expected, reigniting his form and raising questions about his future beyond Manchester United. While his struggles at Old Trafford were well-documented, his resurgence in La Liga has sparked debates about whether Spain’s style of play suits him better.
Antony: “The sun helps a lot”
The Brazilian winger himself, however, believes the change of scenery plays a major role in his improvement. In an interview with Betis’ media channel, Antony didn’t hold back when comparing life in England to Spain:
"The sun helps a lot, and the city of Seville is better than Manchester!"
Antony’s comments echo past frustrations from other players, including Ángel Di María, whose wife famously described Manchester’s weather as “horrible, just horrible.”
Is Antony’s United future in doubt?
With Betis benefiting from his resurgence, speculation is growing over whether Antony will return to Manchester or push for a permanent move. His underwhelming performances at United and preference for life in Spain could lead to an exit from Old Trafford this summer.
