Arda Guler paused for selfies in the rain before scoring in Turkiye’s 2-1 win over the USMNT, as the Real Madrid star continues to impress ahead of the Club World Cup.
Arda Guler showed his class both on and off the pitch during Turkiye’s 2-1 win over the United States in a friendly match played under stormy skies.
The Real Madrid talent was spotted stopping for selfies and autographs with stadium security staff in heavy rain before kick-off, earning praise for his humility. Despite the tough conditions, Guler made time for fans and workers alike, underlining his growing reputation as one of football’s most grounded young stars.
Once the match got underway, the 20-year-old playmaker delivered again. After Turkiye went 1-0 down in the opening minute, Guler scored the equaliser midway through the first half before Kerem Aktürkoğlu sealed the comeback win with a second goal.
This was Guler’s fifth international goal since debuting for Turkiye in 2022, further cementing his importance to the national side. Having made his breakthrough at Madrid last season, Guler is now expected to flourish under new manager Xabi Alonso.
Turkiye are preparing for World Cup qualification and will play another friendly against Mexico on U.S. soil before Guler rejoins Real Madrid for the Club World Cup later this month.
