San Lorenzo's board discovered a significant debt from adult channel subscriptions made under previous management, prompting them to address the issue publicly.
Argentine top-flight football club San Lorenzo has found itself facing an unusual problem. Board member Mateo Sagardoy took to social media to inform fans about the club's situation in the first ten months since new management took over.
During the renewal of television channel subscriptions, they discovered a large debt stemming from a previous agreement that included numerous adult channels. “You should know that we had a big debt, paying for more than 20 adult channels,” Sagardoy shared on his X profile. He believes the subscription was arranged by someone from the previous administration. While they’ve since canceled the contract, the club is still liable for past charges.
Sagardoy also updated fans of the club, currently ranked 22nd in the Argentine league, on various other maintenance needs and expenses. “Have we done everything right? No. Have we solved everything? No. Is there still a lot to fix? Yes. We are dedicated to putting the club on the right track once and for all,” he assured supporters.
San Lorenzo, located in Buenos Aires’ Boedo neighborhood, holds a special place for Pope Francis, a lifelong fan who once described the club as part of his cultural identity.
