An amateur league match in Argentina between Central Buenos Aires and Escocia was postponed after referees mistakenly arrived a day late.
In a bizarre incident in Argentina’s amateur football league, a match between Central Buenos Aires and Escocia was postponed due to a scheduling error by the referees. The officials mistakenly thought the match was scheduled for October 14 instead of October 13, arriving 24 hours late to an empty field.
The Torneo Regional Amateur, one of the lowest divisions in Argentine football, issued an apology, stating: “Due to arbitration issues, the Football Association has postponed this match. Tickets purchased will remain valid for the rescheduled game. We apologize for the inconvenience and will announce a new date soon.”
Incidents like this are rare in the world of football, and when they do occur, they often go unnoticed outside of amateur leagues. However, thanks to social media, these amusing stories are now reaching wider audiences, providing entertainment that would have been unimaginable just a few decades ago.
