Arsenal is closely monitoring Nico Paz, who has been praised by Messi and is on Scaloni’s radar. The young Argentine could make a move to the Premier League this summer.

Nico Paz, the 20-year-old Argentine midfielder, has been making waves both in Europe and with the national team, catching the attention of Arsenal, according to reports from Tuttosport.

Although the winter transfer window has closed, Premier League clubs are already planning for the summer, and Arsenal is closely following Paz’s performances at Como Calcio, where he is playing on loan from Real Madrid.

Messi’s praise and Scaloni’s faith in Paz

The young midfielder has already received praise from Lionel Messi, who spoke highly of him after Argentina’s win over Bolivia in October 2024:

"He’s a player with great quality, very young, with a bright future ahead. He also has a coach I know well (Cesc Fàbregas). Beyond his age, he has an incredible mentality, which is why he is where he is. I hope he continues to grow, and we can help him develop. He will feel at home in this team."

Argentina’s head coach Lionel Scaloni is also keeping a close eye on Paz, as he looks to integrate new talent into the squad.

Arsenal monitoring, but Como wants to keep him

So far, Arsenal has not made a formal bid, but they are tracking his progress closely. Como’s head coach, Cesc Fàbregas, has publicly expressed his desire to keep Paz at the club:

"Nico is our signature player, and we want him to stay with us for many years. We know what we need to do, and we’re working quietly and carefully to keep him here."

Real Madrid still holds 50% of Paz’s rights, which means any future transfer will likely require negotiations between the Spanish giants and Como.
