Arsenal gains an advantage in the Premier League title race after Manchester City drops points against Everton, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side chasing.
Arsenal have taken a major step toward the Premier League title after Manchester City dropped points in a dramatic 3-3 draw with Everton.
The result has shifted momentum back toward Mikel Arteta’s side, who now hold a five-point lead with one game more played, putting their destiny firmly in their own hands.
The timing could not be more intense. Arsenal prepare for a decisive Champions League semi-final clash against Atletico Madrid, with the chance to reach the final and maintain control in the domestic title race.
Jamie Carragher believes the psychological edge now belongs to Arsenal, especially with the atmosphere expected at the Emirates Stadium.
" Can you imagine the stadium against Atletico? The energy, the pressure, being close to a Champions League final and having the league in your hands," Carragher said.
He pointed to Arsenal’s upcoming league fixture as potentially decisive.
"If Arsenal beat West Ham next Sunday, they will win the title," he added, while still warning against overconfidence.
Carragher stressed that Arsenal must stay focused on their own results rather than City’s slip.
"There is no maybe. Win your games. Don’t look at City. It’s all in your hands."
On the other side, Pep Guardiola admitted the situation has changed for Manchester City.
"Now our fate is no longer in our hands. We have four games left, we’ll see what happens," Guardiola said.
City’s draw at Goodison Park exposed rare defensive errors, allowing Everton to come back into the game and take two crucial points from the champions.
With only a few rounds left, Arsenal now controls the race. The next matches will decide whether they convert this advantage into a long-awaited title.
