Arsenal have secured future deals for Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero, two 16-year-old Independiente del Valle talents who will join the club when they turn 18 in 2027.
Arsenal have beaten Barcelona and several Premier League rivals in the race to secure the future signatures of Edwin and Holger Quintero, the highly rated 16-year-old Ecuadorian twins currently playing for Independiente del Valle. Both players are products of the same academy that developed Moises Caicedo and Piero Hincapié, and will formally join Arsenal when they turn 18 in August 2027.
According to Daily Mail Sport, Arsenal intensified their efforts last month, with the twins travelling to London to complete the pre-contract formalities allowed for minors. Their development will continue in Ecuador until they reach the legal age for an international transfer.
Edwin Quintero, the older of the two, is considered the more explosive prospect. A right-sided winger with exceptional speed and flair, he has already drawn comparisons in Colombia to a young Neymar due to his dribbling and instinctive creativity. His twin brother Holger, meanwhile, plays in a deeper role. He is less attacking but known for vision, discipline and tactical maturity. Both have already represented Ecuador at youth level.
Independiente del Valle has become one of South America’s premier factories for emerging talent. The club maintains cooperation agreements with Numancia in Spain and Paços de Ferreira in Portugal, and continues to produce players for European elite teams. Recent graduates include Kendry Páez and Moises Caicedo (Chelsea) as well as Piero Hincapié (Bayer Leverkusen, now linked with Arsenal). Chelsea are also expected to complete the signing of Deinner Ordoñez, a 16-year-old centre-back, when he turns 18 in 2028.
Although the Quintero twins have yet to debut for Independiente’s senior side, they are widely regarded as two of the most promising young footballers in Ecuador. Their transition into first-team football is expected in the near future — and Arsenal will be watching closely as their development accelerates toward 2027.
