Arsenal youngster Max Dowman made history at 15 years and 308 days, becoming the youngest player to feature in the Champions League, breaking Youssoufa Moukoko’s previous record.

Arsenal midfielder Max Dowman became the youngest player in Champions League history on Tuesday night. The talented youngster entered the match in the Czech Republic at just 15 years and 308 days old, rewriting the competition’s record books.

The previous record was held by Youssoufa Moukoko, who debuted in the Champions League for Borussia Dortmund at 16 years and 18 days back in 2020. Dowman has now taken his place at the top of the all-time list.

Dowman’s rise has been rapid. This was his fifth matchday squad appearance for Mikel Arteta’s senior side, and he already has one assist to his name. He is considered one of the brightest talents in the club’s academy.

Recently, Dowman signed a scholarship contract with Arsenal. He will turn 16 on December 31, the day he becomes eligible to sign his professional pre-contract — a deal Arsenal already has prepared.

The youngster comes from a family of lifelong Arsenal supporters, and his development is currently being guided closely by his father. There was never any real concern within the club that he might leave for another project.

Dowman’s debut marks a significant moment for Arsenal’s youth academy — a testament to the club’s ongoing focus on developing elite young players and integrating them into the first team under Arteta.
