Greek club Asteras Tripolis has parted ways with Serbian coach Milan Rastavac after just three matches in the new season, with Robbie Keane being the frontrunner to replace him.

Despite a strong start to the season with an impressive 1-0 victory over Panathinaikos in the opening match, Milan Rastavac’s time at Asteras was cut short following a 1-0 loss to Volos and a 1-1 draw with Aris. The club’s management decided to make a radical decision and relieved the Serbian coach of his duties.

Robbie Keane, the former Irish international and recent champion with Maccabi Tel Aviv, is reportedly the leading candidate to take over at Asteras. Keane left Maccabi after leading them to the title and was succeeded by Serbian coach Žarko Lazetić.

Asteras released a statement thanking Rastavac for his professionalism and contributions:
"The club would like to inform the public of the termination of our cooperation with coach Milan Rastavac. We thank him for his contribution to the team, serving with great professionalism and dedication. His work has left an important legacy for the future of the club. We wish him all the best and much success in his future career."

Rastavac led Asteras to a seventh-place finish in the previous season.
