The transfer battle over Julian Alvarez has taken an explosive turn, with Atletico Madrid publicly mocking Real Madrid after rejecting a €150 million offer for their star striker.
After weeks of speculation linking Alvarez with several European giants, Real Madrid officially confirmed that it had submitted a massive bid for the Argentine forward.
Atletico's response was immediate, and far from diplomatic.
Five emojis said it all
Shortly after news of Real Madrid's offer became public, Atletico Madrid posted five laughing emojis on social media.
The message needed no explanation.
Fans quickly interpreted the post as a direct response to Real Madrid's attempt to sign one of Atletico's most important players.
The post spread rapidly across social media and immediately became one of the most discussed topics among Spanish football supporters.

Atletico did not stop there.
In a second message, the club made its position even clearer.
"You have confused politeness with gratitude."
The statement appeared to be a direct response to suggestions that Atletico should appreciate Real Madrid's offer.
Instead, the club emphasized that it never seriously considered the proposal.
Atletico's stance remains unchanged: Julian Alvarez is not for sale.
The Argentine international remains under contract until 2030 and reportedly has a €500 million release clause.
Another jab at Real Madrid
The social media exchange became even more entertaining when Atletico published another message aimed at their city rivals.
"How could we not get along well if you make us laugh even more than Barcelona?"
The post was viewed by many supporters as a classic example of Atletico's combative relationship with both of Spain's biggest clubs.
Rather than issuing a formal statement, Atletico chose humor and sarcasm to make its point.
Old wounds reopened
The club then touched on another sensitive subject.
In a third post, Atletico referred to the long-standing rivalry over youth development and academy recruitment.
" Since we are such good friends with your new president, you might as well stop taking young players from our academy. Thank you."
The comment reignited a debate that has existed between the two Madrid clubs for years.
Alvarez remains untouchable
Despite strong interest from clubs including Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and now Real Madrid, Atletico continues to view Alvarez as one of the foundations of its project.
The 26-year-old has become a central figure in Diego Simeone's team and is regarded as one of the world's elite forwards.
For now, Atletico's message could not be clearer.
No matter how many millions are offered, the club has no intention of opening negotiations.
And judging by the tone of its social media activity, Real Madrid's bid provided more entertainment than temptation.
