Conor Gallagher was already in Madrid, but now he’s heading back to London. It seems that Atletico Madrid is now pursuing an alternative in the form of N'Golo Kante!

The popular and experienced midfielder N'Golo Kante left Europe last summer to join Al Ittihad, a team in the Saudi Pro League. Before this year’s European Championship, the French national team coach surprised many by calling up the 33-year-old Kante, who proved that he still has plenty left in the tank.

Recently, there has been talk of a potential return to Europe, with Kante reportedly on the radar of West Ham, which is building a very interesting squad.

Now, even Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are in the mix, viewing Kante as an alternative option after the transfer of Conor Gallagher from Chelsea fell through. Gallagher is currently on his way back to England, specifically to London.

The deal ultimately didn’t go through because Chelsea was supposed to simultaneously sign Samu Omorodion from Atletico, but he failed his medical before signing with the London club. As a result, both transfers have seemingly collapsed. Omorodion remains with Atletico, and Gallagher is heading home.

N'Golo Kante has previously played for Caen, Leicester City, and Chelsea in Europe before moving to Saudi Arabia.
