Atlético Madrid have reportedly made Mohamed Salah their top transfer target following the departure of club legend Antoine Griezmann.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Madrid club sees the Egypt captain as the ideal player to lead a new era under Diego Simeone after Griezmann completed his move to Orlando City.
Griezmann's exit has left a major gap in Atlético's attack, and the club is now searching for a proven match-winner capable of making an immediate impact.
Salah's performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup have only strengthened his reputation.
Leading Egypt as captain, the former Liverpool forward has played a decisive role with goals, assists and leadership, helping the Pharaohs reach the knockout stage and once again attracting the attention of Europe's biggest clubs.
Atlético are also close to completing the signing of Kang-in Lee, but the South Korea international is viewed as a creative midfielder rather than a direct replacement for Griezmann.
The club therefore continues its search for an elite attacking player capable of transforming the frontline.
Salah has long admired La Liga
Salah has previously acknowledged his admiration for Spanish football, fueling speculation that he would welcome the opportunity to play in La Liga before the end of his career.
Atlético could now provide that opportunity.
