Jan Oblak will miss Atletico’s Champions League clash with Barcelona due to injury, with Juan Musso set to start in goal.
Jan Oblak will not feature in tonight’s Champions League clash between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, missing out after failing to recover in time from injury.
The Slovenian goalkeeper recently returned to training, but the match came too soon for a full return.
After discussions with the medical staff and coaching team, Diego Simeone decided not to include Oblak in the squad.
This means Juan Musso will once again take his place in goal for Atletico, continuing his role from recent matches.
The absence of Oblak is a significant blow, especially after standout performances from David Raya and Manuel Neuer in Tuesday’s quarter-final matches.
While those goalkeepers dominated the spotlight, Oblak will have to wait for another opportunity to make his impact on the European stage.
Expected lineups:
Barcelona: J. Garcia, Cancelo, Martin, Cubarsi, Kounde, Pedri, Fermin, Eric, Rashford, Lewandowski, Yamal.
Atletico Madrid: Musso, Molina, Pubil, Hancko, Ruggeri, Koke, Griezmann, Llorente, Giuliano, Julian Alvarez, Lookman.
All eyes will now be on how Atletico cope without their long-time number one in one of the biggest matches of the season.
