Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo is reportedly edging closer to an exit, with Juventus leading the race for his signature as speculation intensifies around his future at the club.
The potential departure of Ronald Araujo is dominating discussions within the FC Barcelona locker room, where teammates believe the 25-year-old Uruguayan could be on the verge of leaving the club. According to ARA, there is a growing sense among players that “this time it seems serious” regarding Araujo’s transfer.
Juventus have emerged as a prime contender for Araujo’s services, with Barcelona reportedly rejecting an opening offer from the Serie A giants. Despite keeping his intentions private, Araujo’s dissatisfaction with Barcelona’s recent renewal offers has fueled speculation about his departure.
The defender is said to feel let down by the club’s inability to honor promises made during his 2021 contract renewal, a period marked by Barcelona’s financial struggles. Additionally, rival clubs have tabled proposals that significantly exceed both his current terms and the Catalans’ new offer.
Araujo’s importance in the team has reportedly diminished this season, with manager Hansi Flick favoring Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez in central defense. Frustrated by reduced playing time, Araujo is said to have informed some teammates of his contemplation about leaving Barcelona.
Barcelona are open to negotiating Araujo’s transfer, particularly with his contract running until 2026. This winter or summer could represent their last chance to secure a substantial fee for the Uruguayan international. Both Arsenal and Juventus have shown interest, with Barcelona prepared to listen to offers that meet their financial expectations.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are planning for the future by targeting Jonathan Tah, who could arrive on a free transfer, and securing an automatic contract extension for Inigo Martinez. These moves indicate the club is preparing for life without Araujo.
