Barcelona are planning for the summer transfer window, with Hansi Flick prioritizing a right-back signing, and Romanian international Andrei Ratiu has emerged as a serious candidate.
Barcelona are already mapping out their summer transfer strategy to strengthen the squad. Head coach Hansi Flick has made it clear that his top priority is securing a right-back, with Jules Kounde currently excelling in the position but lacking a suitable backup. Victor Fort is not yet at the required level, prompting sporting director Deco to scout potential reinforcements.
One of the leading names on the list is 26-year-old Andrei Ratiu, a Romanian international who currently plays for Rayo Vallecano.
Ratiu presents an affordable and practical solution for the Catalan club. His buyout clause is €25 million, but with his contract expiring in 2025, Barcelona believe they could secure him for around €10 million at the end of the season.
Should the move materialize, Ratiu would become the fourth Romanian in Barcelona’s history and the first since Gheorghe Popescu left the club in 1997. Before Popescu, Nicolae Simatoc and Gheorghe Hagi also played for Barcelona, both having arrived from Brescia.
However, Deco is expected to explore several right-back options before making a final decision.
