Barcelona is targeting Marc Cucurella, but Monaco defender Caio Henrique has emerged as a cheaper alternative for the Catalan club this summer.
Barcelona are actively searching for a new left-back ahead of the summer transfer window, but they already know that signing Marc Cucurella from Chelsea will be extremely difficult.
The Spanish international is reportedly one of the club’s priority targets, yet several obstacles stand in the way of a transfer.
Cucurella remains under contract with Chelsea until 2028, which puts the London club in a strong negotiating position.
According to estimates from Transfermarkt, the defender’s market value currently stands at around €50 million.
That figure creates a serious challenge for Barcelona, who continue to operate under financial pressure and strict spending limitations.
The Catalan club also need reinforcement because Joao Cancelo is expected to return to Al Hilal after his spell away from Saudi Arabia.
Because of that situation, Barcelona are already studying more affordable alternatives.
According to Brazilian reports, one of the leading backup options is Caio Henrique from Monaco.
The Brazilian defender is viewed as a much more realistic target financially, and early information suggests a transfer fee around €15 million could be enough to start negotiations.
Barcelona sporting director Deco has reportedly already received preliminary details regarding the potential deal.
Caio Henrique, now 28 years old, previously belonged to Atletico Madrid, although he spent most of that period out on loan before establishing himself in France.
A move to Barcelona would likely represent the biggest opportunity of his career.
Still, despite the growing interest, several conditions would need to align before the transfer becomes realistic.
