Young midfielder Pablo Torre will leave Barcelona to join Mallorca after struggling for playing time. Barça will retain 50% of his rights with a future buy-back option.
Barcelona have agreed to sell young talent Pablo Torre to
RCD Mallorca after the 21-year-old attacking midfielder struggled to break into the club’s first team due to fierce competition in midfield.
Torre made just 10 La Liga appearances last season, despite showing promise in his limited minutes. He also featured prominently for Spain’s U-21 team at the European Championship, where his performances turned heads—but his opportunities at Camp Nou remained scarce.
Signed by Barça in 2022 with high expectations, Torre often found himself relegated to the reserve squad. The talented playmaker ultimately decided not to wait any longer for his breakthrough, opting instead to pursue regular football elsewhere.
Despite receiving interest from abroad, including offers from Ajax and Marseille, Torre has chosen to stay in Spain. According to Spanish media, he will join Mallorca, who will pay €5 million for 50% of his rights.
Barcelona have secured a buy-back clause, allowing them to repurchase Torre’s full rights in the future for a fee reported to be between €10 and €12 million. The deal ensures the Catalan club retains a long-term stake in his development while allowing him to play regularly in La Liga.
During his time with Barcelona, Torre scored three goals in 10 league appearances and featured in 27 matches overall for the senior team. Though his minutes were limited, he made a strong impression with his vision, technique, and energy in midfield.
Now at Mallorca, Torre will look to relaunch his career in a team where he’s expected to play a far more prominent role. For both the player and Barcelona, the move is a pragmatic step forward.
