Ronald Araujo is set to join Juventus from Barcelona in a potential loan or transfer deal. Negotiations continue over purchase clauses as the move nears completion.
Ronald Araujo, Barcelona’s 25-year-old central defender, is on the verge of joining Juventus, according to reports from La Repubblica. While initial rumors about Juventus’ interest were dismissed, suggesting that Barcelona had no intention of selling their key defensive asset, new reports indicate the transfer is close to being finalized.
Discussions between the two clubs revolve around whether Araujo will join on an initial loan deal or a permanent transfer. Juventus reportedly prefers a loan with a non-mandatory purchase option, while Barcelona is pushing for an obligatory buy clause. Araujo’s market value is estimated at €55 million, reflecting his status as one of Barcelona’s key players in recent years.
The move comes as Juventus looks to bolster its defense, particularly in light of Gleison Bremer’s injury, which has left a significant gap in their backline. Araujo, who has made 151 appearances for Barcelona, was also a summer target for Bayern Munich but chose to remain with the Catalan side.
Losing Araujo would mark a significant change for Barcelona, as the Uruguayan has been an integral part of their defense. For Juventus, securing a defender of Araujo’s caliber could provide the stability needed to maintain their push for success in both Serie A and European competitions.
