Lamine Yamal won La Liga’s April award after scoring two goals and adding two assists. The Barcelona star now faces a key injury setback before the title run-in.
La Liga has named Lamine Yamal as its player of the month for April, confirming the teenager’s outstanding form for Barcelona.
The 18-year-old winger played three league matches during the month, delivering two goals and two assists. Barcelona won all four games in April, strengthening their push toward the title.
His performances continue to place him among the league’s elite. Yamal has scored 16 league goals, making him the third-highest scorer behind Vedat Muriqi and Kylian Mbappé.
Across all competitions, the numbers are even stronger.
Yamal has recorded 24 goals and 18 assists this season, confirming his status as one of the most productive players in Europe despite his age.
Barcelona now stand on the brink of the La Liga title. The decisive moment could arrive in El Clásico against Real Madrid on May 10.
However, there is concern ahead of the final stretch.
Yamal missed the match against Getafe due to a hamstring injury and is expected to miss the rest of the club season. His absence could impact the final rounds, with matches against Osasuna, Real Madrid, Alavés, Real Betis, and Valencia still to play.
The focus now shifts to recovery.
Spain hope their rising star returns in time for the World Cup in the United States, which begins in mid-June. Yamal will turn 19 during the tournament in July.
Even with the injury setback, his April award adds another milestone to a season that continues to break expectations.
