Barcelona suffered their third consecutive setback in La Liga, losing 2-1 at home to Las Palmas. Real Madrid now has a chance to overtake them in the standings.
Barcelona, under the guidance of Hansi Flick, has once again disappointed fans after a 2-1 defeat at home against Las Palmas in the 14th round of La Liga. This marks their third consecutive stumble in the league.
The match started with promise, but fans had to wait until the 49th minute for the first goal. Former Barcelona player Sandro Ramirez struck for Las Palmas after a counterattack and a precise shot from the edge of the penalty area to put the visitors ahead.
Barcelona responded in the 61st minute when Raphinha equalized with a strike from the edge of the penalty box, bringing the score to 1-1. However, the home side's joy was short-lived. Just six minutes later, Las Palmas capitalized on Barcelona's high defensive line. Silva broke through and calmly finished to restore the visitors’ lead at 2-1, a scoreline they held onto until the final whistle.
Hansi Flick’s side was unable to find an answer, resulting in another league defeat. This poor form leaves Barcelona with two losses and a draw in their last three La Liga games. Their only recent positive result came with a 3-0 Champions League win over Brest.
Looking ahead, Barcelona will travel to face Mallorca in their next La Liga match, while Las Palmas will host bottom-placed Real Valladolid, who have the league’s worst defense.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid, currently second in the standings, has played two games fewer than Barcelona. They will face Getafe tomorrow in a mini local derby and have the opportunity to overtake their rivals in the table.
