Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro expresses confidence in coach Xabi Alonso and star midfielder Florian Wirtz remaining at the club amid ongoing speculation.

Fernando Carro, the CEO of Bayer Leverkusen, has stated his confidence that head coach Xabi Alonso will remain with the club at least until the end of the season.

"We are counting on him staying. There are no signs or indications to suggest otherwise. We have a very close and trusting relationship with him, his family, and his advisor," Carro told Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger.

Xabi Alonso, who is under contract with Leverkusen until 2026, will reportedly remain heavily involved in planning the team for next season.

Carro also addressed speculation about Florian Wirtz, denying reports that the German international had extended his contract, which currently runs until 2027.

"I would be happy if this were true. I hope he stays at Leverkusen at least until the 2026 World Cup," Carro said, reflecting the club’s hopes of retaining the 21-year-old midfielder, who has become a cornerstone of their squad.
