Bayer Leverkusen have signed Côte d'Ivoire international Guéla Doué from Strasbourg for €30m plus bonuses, with the 23-year-old signing until 2031.

Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of Côte d'Ivoire international
Guéla Doué from Racing Strasbourg, strengthening their right-back options with one of Ligue 1's highly rated young defenders.
The 23-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the Bundesliga club running until 2031. Leverkusen are reportedly paying Strasbourg an initial €30 million, while bonuses could eventually take the total value of the transfer to €37.5m.
Doué arrives in Germany after spending two seasons with Strasbourg and will now take the next step of his career in the Bundesliga. The defender is also the older brother of Paris Saint-Germain star Désiré Doué.
Leverkusen delighted with new right-back
Bayer Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes believes Doué's qualities make him an ideal addition to the squad.
"By signing Guéla Doué, we have made an excellent addition to our squad in the right-back position. We can look forward to a top-class new signing who fits perfectly into our squad," Rolfes said.
The size of the investment underlines Leverkusen's confidence in the Côte d'Ivoire international. With the potential package reaching €37.5m, Doué arrives as a significant long-term investment rather than simply additional depth at right-back.
Doué ready for Bundesliga challenge
Doué leaves Strasbourg after two years in French football and said Leverkusen's plans convinced him that Germany was the right destination for the next stage of his career.
"I had two wonderful years at Racing Strasbourg in France. But now I'd like to make the move to the Bundesliga and join a club that has really impressed me during our talks," Doué said.
The 23-year-old is also excited by the quality he will find in his new dressing room.
"The team is talented and has so many good players. I'm absolutely looking forward to playing with these lads," he added.
The move gives Doué an opportunity to establish himself in another of Europe's major leagues, while Leverkusen secure the player until 2031. For Strasbourg, the deal represents another significant outgoing transfer, with the final value potentially reaching €37.5m if the agreed bonuses are triggered.
