Bayern Munich teenager Maycon Cardozo made his Bundesliga debut against Borussia Monchengladbach. The Brazilian winger who grew up in Thailand stands 165 cm tall.
Bayern Munich introduced another young talent to their first team as Maycon Cardozo made his Bundesliga debut in the 4-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.
Head coach Vincent Kompany sent the 17 year old Brazilian winger onto the pitch in the 61st minute, giving him around half an hour in his first appearance for the senior squad.
The debut also brought a unique distinction. With a height of 165 centimeters, Cardozo now holds the title of the shortest player currently in the Bundesliga.
The quick and technical winger mainly plays on the right flank and already caught attention with his speed and dribbling ability.
Cardozo has an unusual football story. Although born in Sao Paulo, he spent much of his childhood in Thailand, where he began his football journey before moving to Germany.
In 2024, he joined Bayern’s World Squad project, a global talent program run by the German champions. His performances quickly earned him a place in the Bayern U17 team, and he continued progressing through the academy before reaching the first team.
Football also runs in the family. His father, former striker Douglas Cardozo, played for clubs including Santos and Elche and spent many years of his career in Thailand before retiring in 2023 and moving into coaching.
With Bayern Munich holding a strong lead at the top of the Bundesliga table, young players like Maycon Cardozo could receive more opportunities during the final months of the season.
