Malik Tillman, Eredivisie’s standout player, dreams of returning to Bayern Munich. A matching clause in his PSV contract could facilitate a move back to Germany.
Malik Tillman, the 22-year-old offensive midfielder who can also play as a winger, has been a revelation for PSV Eindhoven since joining the Dutch club last summer. The former Bayern Munich youth prospect, who made seven senior appearances and scored in the DFB-Pokal, has quickly proven to be a fantastic investment for PSV.
Tillman has delivered 10 goals and four assists across all competitions in the first half of the season, earning recognition as arguably the best player in the Eredivisie. His performances have helped PSV secure first place in the league standings, six points ahead of Ajax, with Utrecht surprisingly in third.
The Bavarian-born star hasn’t hidden his ambition to return to Bayern Munich, where he developed as a player and where his family still resides. In a recent interview, Tillman said:
"My dream is to one day return to Bayern, even though I know they have world-class players. I grew up in Bavaria, my mother still lives there, as do many of my friends. When? Well, you all know the situation with my contract at PSV and the clause."
The clause in question: Bayern Munich has a matching clause in Tillman’s contract, giving them the right to match any transfer offer PSV receives. This puts Bayern in pole position should another club make a move for Tillman, ensuring they have the chance to bring him back to the Allianz Arena.
With Tillman’s stock rising rapidly, it may only be a matter of time before Bayern considers activating the clause, especially as he continues to dominate in the Dutch league and show immense potential.
