Bayern Munich officially extended the contracts of veteran goalkeepers Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich ahead of the new season.
Manuel Neuer celebrated his 40th birthday in March, but the legendary goalkeeper still has no intention of slowing down.
Bayern Munich officially confirmed today that Neuer has extended his contract and will remain with the German champions until the end of June 2027.
The announcement means Bayern will continue with the same experienced goalkeeping structure next season, despite growing questions about the club’s long-term future between the posts.
Neuer admitted that he carefully considered his decision before finally choosing to continue.
“I thought for a long time, but in the end I decided to stay here and I’m very happy. We have a strong squad and I’m still enjoying it,” the veteran goalkeeper said.
Neuer has been part of Bayern since arriving from Schalke in 2011 and has become one of the greatest goalkeepers in football history during his time in Munich.
He has already made 597 appearances for Bayern and collected an extraordinary number of trophies.
The German goalkeeper has won 13 Bundesliga titles, six DFB Cups, and two Champions League trophies with the Bavarian giants.
He also became a world champion with Germany in 2014.
Bayern already secured another Bundesliga title this season and now prepare for tomorrow’s DFB Cup final against Cologne.
In Europe, however, the German champions fell short again after exiting the Champions League in the semi-finals.
ULREICH ALSO STAYS
Bayern did not stop with Neuer.
The club also confirmed a contract extension for backup goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.
The 37-year-old will remain in Munich until the end of next season.
Ulreich returned to Bayern in 2021 and has since made 104 appearances for the club.
Before that, he spent many years at Stuttgart, where he collected another 220 appearances, and also briefly played for Hamburg.
The extensions suggest Bayern prefers stability and experience in goal for at least one more season.
The big question now is whether this will truly become the final chapter, or “last dance,” for Neuer in Munich.
