Slovenia coach Matjaž Kek advised Benjamin Šeško not to move to Saudi club Al Hilal, saying the striker is too young for such a step.
There is currently no indication that Benjamin Šeško is planning to move to Al Hilal, but recent speculation around Saudi interest prompted a clear response from Slovenia head coach Matjaž Kek. Following a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kek addressed the rumours during a press conference—even though no serious talks are known to be underway.
“At his age, he shouldn’t go! If someone from there is interested, it’s a form of recognition. I don’t underestimate them—I’ve worked there myself. But there will be time for challenges like that later,” said Kek. “I believe Benjamin, and the people around him, are smart enough to find the right solution. He needs to play and enjoy football. That’s when he’s at his best. He must not just play—he has to play with joy.”
Šeško, who missed recent friendlies against Luxembourg and Bosnia due to a minor knee issue, remains at the centre of transfer discussions as clubs monitor his situation at RB Leipzig. His future could involve a high-profile summer move, but Saudi Arabia does not appear to be a serious option at this stage.
