Former Juventus winger Federico Bernardeschi criticizes Juventus for benching Dušan Vlahović in favor of loan signing Kolo Muani, calling the decision inexplicable and illogical.
Former Juventus player Federico Bernardeschi expressed his disbelief at Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri's decision to favor Kolo Muani ahead of star Serbian striker Dušan Vlahović.
Bernardeschi, who spent five seasons with the Bianconeri before moving to MLS side Toronto, openly questioned Juventus' tactical decisions. He specifically criticized the choice of starting Kolo Muani, who joined Juventus merely on loan, over Serbian international Dušan Vlahović.
"I can't believe what I'm seeing. Juventus are playing Kolo Muani, a loan player, ahead of someone like Vlahović. Dušan is an exceptional professional and an incredible player. They're using him completely wrong, and frankly, it makes no sense," Bernardeschi said during an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
Bernardeschi argues that Juventus’ tactical approach and player management have hindered Vlahović’s potential and damaged his confidence. The Serbian striker has found himself relegated to the bench, sparking criticism and confusion among supporters and analysts alike.
Vlahović, once Juventus’ marquee signing, now struggles for consistent game time, while Kolo Muani has unexpectedly become coach Allegri’s preferred attacking option.
Bernardeschi, who spent five years at Juventus, sympathized with Vlahović, emphasizing that Juventus’ current tactical choices lack clarity and strategic sense.
