Bernardo Silva will leave Manchester City at the end of the season, closing a remarkable chapter that saw him become one of the most successful players in the club’s modern era.
The Portugal international joined City in 2017 from Monaco and went on to make 451 appearances over nine seasons, playing a central role in one of the most dominant teams in English football history.
During his time at the club, Silva won 19 major trophies, including six Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, and five League Cups.
His individual contribution was equally impressive. The midfielder scored 76 goals and provided 77 assists, underlining his consistency, creativity, and tactical intelligence.
Silva also climbed into Manchester City’s top ten most-capped players, surpassing notable names such as David Silva, Paul Power, and Willie Donachie.
Emotional farewell message
The midfielder confirmed his departure through a message to supporters, reflecting on his journey at the club.
"When I arrived nine years ago, I was following a dream as a little boy. This club and this city have given me so much more than I ever imagined," he wrote.
"What we have achieved together will forever be etched in my heart. Centurions, a domestic quadruple, a treble, four titles in a row... it wasn't bad 😉."
Silva also thanked his family and the fans for their support.
"I have created a family here. Thank you, Ines and Carlota, from the bottom of my heart. Your unconditional support is something I will never forget. I came as a City player, I leave as one of you."
What comes next
Despite his departure, Silva is expected to continue competing at the highest level. A move to Saudi Arabia or MLS appears unlikely at this stage.
Juventus have already shown strong interest, viewing him as a key addition to their midfield. Meanwhile, a return to Benfica, where he began his career, remains a possibility.
Before he leaves, Silva will aim to add more silverware, with Manchester City still competing for the Premier League and FA Cup this season.
